It was a day filled with laughter, shared memories and reconnection, as former pupils returned to the place where so many of their formative years were spent. The school was alive with stories from the past, as guests toured familiar spaces and reflected on how both the school, and they themselves, had changed over the decades.
Many revisited Browhead, pausing to recall moments of school life that had clearly stayed with them for many years. There was also time spent down at Hodge Howe, where laughter and conversation continued lakeside in the sunshine, before some guests chose to round off the day with a walk up Orrest Head -just as they had done in their school days.
The sense of nostalgia was matched only by the warmth of reconnection. Friendships were renewed, memories were shared, and there was a genuine joy in returning to a place that still clearly holds deep meaning for so many.
The catering team also received particular praise, with guests describing the lunch as “exemplary,” “delicious,” and “beyond all expectations,” adding to what was a truly memorable day.
Messages of thanks from the Stannites captured the spirit of the occasion:
“Thank you so much for organising Saturday’s reunion, it was an absolutely seamless event and I loved every minute. The food was exemplary and totally beyond all our expectations. It was lovely to walk down memory lane and so glad to see the school is in such good hands in these challenging times.”
“I just wanted to send you and the catering ladies a huge thank you for facilitating an amazing reunion on Saturday. We all had a wonderful time exploring Browhead. Such wonderful memories and lunch was delicious!”
“We had a lovely time at Hodge Howe. Some of us also went up Orrest Head yesterday morning.”
“Many thanks for hosting the Stannite Class of 1986 reunion. It was wonderful to reunite with so many of my former school mates after so long. You and the team made us feel so welcome and it was a lovely lunch. Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved.”
As the day drew to a close, there was a shared sense that while time moves on, the connection to Windermere remains strong. Events like these are a reminder that the Stannite community is not defined by years spent at school, but by the lasting bonds and shared experiences that continue long after.
