Jane joined the school in the 1950s and quickly became a central figure in school life. During her time here, she was appointed Boarding Head Girl and later earned her place on the honours board as Head Prefect in 1960 - a lasting testament to her contribution to the community.
During her visit, Jane spoke with great warmth and affection about her years at Windermere. Her memories brought to life a different era of school life, yet one that felt strikingly familiar in its sense of friendship, adventure and belonging.
Among her recollections were lighter moments too - including fond memories of sunbathing on the roof, capturing something of the carefree spirit and camaraderie that so many Stannites, past and present, will recognise.
Visits like Jane’s are a powerful reminder of the deep and enduring connection between the school and its alumni. Across the decades, the experiences may evolve, but the essence of being a Stannite - community, character and shared memories - remains unchanged.
We are always delighted to welcome former pupils back to Windermere and to hear their stories. If you are a Stannite planning a visit, we would love to hear from you.
