For some, it might be the friendships that began in the classroom, on the sports field, out on the lake or in the boarding houses. For others, it might be an adventure that pushed them beyond their comfort zone, a teacher who believed in them, or the confidence they gained from being encouraged to try something new.
Perhaps it is simply the feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself.
Whatever it is, we believe there is something very special about being a Stannite.
Your time at Windermere may have come to an end, but being part of the Windermere community doesn't have to. Across the generations, Stannites continue to share a connection with the school, with the Lake District and, most importantly, with one another.
We would love to explore “What makes a Stannite?” and create a special montage celebrating the moments, memories and experiences that have shaped our Stannite community.
So we are asking our Stannites:
What is the one thing your time at Windermere gave you that you still carry with you today?
It could be a photograph, a favourite memory, a friendship, an adventure, a lesson you have never forgotten, a place that still feels like home, or simply a few words about what Windermere meant to you.
We would love to hear from Stannites of all generations. Whether you left Windermere last year or many decades ago, your memories are part of the story of our school.
Please email your memory, photograph or reflection to jgaskin@windermereschool.co.uk and we will bring them together to create a special “Once a Stannite, Always a Stannite” montage celebrating our community.
And if you have an old photograph tucked away in a drawer or an album, we'd love to see that too!
Because although our journeys take us in many different directions, there is one thing that connects us all:
Once a Stannite, always a Stannite. 💙
