Jane, who attended Windermere from the 1950s, had always kept her cherished boarding trunk, adorned with the classic Windermere stripes.
Her son, Michael, shared tales of her retrieving bricks from the bottom of the lake at Hodge Howe. Jane’s father, Bill, a local gentleman from Dalton-in-Furness, was a renowned racing car driver, known for driving Jowett Jupiter cars.
Although Jane is unfortunately no longer here, it is heart-warming to receive such a beautiful piece of history, bringing Jane’s trunk back to where it began its journey around 70 years ago. This treasure will be lovingly preserved here at Windermere in her memory.
