Hosted at Limerick Racecourse, the championship brought together some of the world's leading obstacle course racing athletes. Jonny competed in the 400m sprint category in his age group, successfully navigating a series of qualifying rounds before progressing to the finals on Saturday.
The 400m is one of the sprint disciplines within obstacle course racing, combining the explosive power and speed of a traditional sprint with the running efficiency needed to sustain a high-intensity effort over the distance. With little margin for error and competitors from across the world lining up, the event provided an exceptionally challenging field.
Jonny produced a superb performance in the final to take first place and the gold medal in his age category.
His achievement was made even more impressive by his final time, which would have placed him third in the Elite Category had he competed against the senior field.
Jonny's success is a fantastic example of the dedication, determination and resilience required to compete at the highest level of obstacle course racing, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate his achievement.
