A Moment to Remember: Celebrating Our IB Class of 2026

There are some moments in life that stay with us forever. Opening an exam results envelope -the mixture of excitement, nerves and anticipation as months of hard work come down to one defining moment.

For our Class of 2026, that moment has arrived.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate another exceptional year of Sixth Form success at Windermere School, with students achieving a 100% pass rate in both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme.

Our Diploma students achieved an average score of 33.5 points, almost three points above the global average, with 40% achieving 34 points or more and one student securing an outstanding 40 points. Alongside this, students following our Career-related and vocational pathways achieved equally impressive results, reflecting the strength of our personalised approach to Sixth Form education.

For today's students, these results mark the beginning of exciting new adventures. University places, apprenticeships, careers, gap years and opportunities around the world now await.

But for our Stannites, perhaps these results bring back memories of a different era.

Do you remember collecting your own results? Was it an envelope handed to you by a teacher? A noticeboard? A phone call home? Or perhaps you travelled back to school to celebrate with friends before heading off in your own direction.

The qualifications may have changed over the decades - from School Certificate and O Levels to GCSEs, A Levels and now the International Baccalaureate - but that feeling is timeless. The anticipation. The relief. The celebrations. The photographs. The goodbyes.

As Windermere School prepares to begin a new chapter at Browhead, moments like these remind us that while buildings evolve and education changes, the heart of the School has always been its people.

For generations of Stannites, Windermere has been the place where lifelong friendships were formed, ambitions were nurtured and futures began. Every set of results represents far more than grades on a page - they tell the story of determination, resilience, encouragement from teachers, support from friends and the confidence to step into the next stage of life.

To our newest Stannites, congratulations. You leave Windermere with much to be proud of, and we cannot wait to see where your journeys take you.

And to our wider Stannite community…

Do you remember collecting your results? We'd love to hear your memories. Share your stories, photographs and reflections, and help us celebrate this special milestone across the generations.
