Sponsored Swim Success at Hodge Howe

On Thursday, Jo, our Head of Alumni and Community Relations, successfully completed her sponsored swim at Hodge Howe - a challenge undertaken in support of the Stannite Bursary Fund.

Originally planned for Saturday, the swim was brought forward due to a yellow weather warning and forecasted 55mph wind gusts. Despite the last-minute change, the event was met with incredible community support and spirit.

Reflecting on the experience, Jo said:

“I was scared, tearful, happy, proud – all the emotions! But what made it so special was the support from our school community. So many people came down to the lake to cheer me on, and I even had three parents join me in the water, which meant the world.”

The Bursary Fund provides life-changing opportunities for young people to access a Windermere education, and this challenge was a heartfelt way to contribute to that mission. So far, the fund has been able to support a pupil’s place on the school’s sailing race team – without this, this exception sailor may have missed this opportunity.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who offered sponsorship, encouragement, and support - both on the day and in the lead-up to the event. It was a wonderful reminder of the strength of the Windermere community.
